Garage built license plate light bracket

FS: a home built license plate light bracket (see my post: http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...t-bracket.html). As I have had quite a bit of interest in making these brackets, I have decided to produce a few and will ship (continental US only) for $25 (I have had to raise the price as shipping and handling just keep getting more expensive). What you will get is the bracket, you will then take all of the various parts off of your old bracket (all of the fasteners, light units and wiring harness; see picture) and then assemble those onto the new bracket. The bracket will be made of 26-Gauge Zinc-Plated Sheet Metal, primed and painted black. I will also include 4 stainless steel screws to fasten the light units to the bracket. If your bracket is like mine, those screws were just rust, so this should help out a bit. If interested, or need further information, shoot me a PM.

These are no longer available. Should you need one, please see the post listed above, as it will give you specific instructions to build your own. Thanks.

Sounds like a good idea. If I hadn't just bought a used one, I'd snap yours up right now...

Good stuff, if I didn't fab my own from a piece of aluminum, id snag one of these asap. For those that want LED's, you could buy the flexible strips at any parts store and stick them where the OE light assembly is.

I can post pics of my setup if anyone else is interested. GLWS man!

nba0203, thanks for those complimentary words and 99BlackMaxMS, my original thought was to assist others to make their own. After a couple of folks asked if I would make a few to sell I figured why not, hence the FS post.

I'm interested, but do you know which one of these- http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...urn.html%23lpc
will fit?

Fredward, maybe some of the other guys can add comments about their experience but with the bracket I make, there are some issues but first, the only one that might work is the LPC-x-NW2, which resembles the OEM lights, but the two major issues fitting them with the bracket I make; hole spacing center to center and overall length of the lights. What I would recommend is getting the lights and making your own bracket, I am certain that will a little ingenuity you could make it work (and fit). Again, perhaps someone who has done this can offer up some suggestions. If you want to make your own, I would be glad to provide some specs to help you out, just let me know.

I appreciate you being honest and not just trying to make a buck. I'll look at my bracket when my car gets out of the shop and make a decision. If it won't fit I might just do the LED strip tactic like they did in the 4th gen "How to" thread.

Fredward, not a problem, my original thought was to give advice on how to 'home build" the bracket not to sell them, but again, after a few requests I decided to fab up a few to sell. Again, if you want to try the LED lights, let me know which ones and I'll try to give you some dimensions that will work. Remember I have never seen what the OEM bracket looks like as mine was nonexistent, all I had was some rust around the light units and the fasteners, so I studied pictures of the bracket from various sites and came up with something that works.

Don't wait to fail your state inspection, check your license plate lights now. If your bracket is nothing but rust, build your own (http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...t-bracket.html) or purchase one of my brackets. Should you need further information on either, build or purchase, shot me a PM.

Looks great and those LEDs put out a bunch of light. Did you have to modify the bracket?

I didn't have to modify your bracket at all.

They should fit the stock bracket, they're the same size as the stock ones.

Was the bracket from the OP pre-drilled for the factory lights?

Yes, my template was made from the factory lights and the brackets are pre-drilled for those lights.

Blackwind, I think the answer will be no. My original intent was to show folks how to fab up their own bracket but made a few after receiving requests. This takes it a step further and would be complicated, as I would need your original wiring harness sent to me, then order the LED units, construct and then ship the completed unit back to you. My suggestion would be to do what Fredward did, get my bracket and then build up your own LED harness, just follow his example as shown in the pictures (again, nice clean job Fredward).

Again, sorry but I think I will pass. If you do want to do this, I would be happy to answer any questions you might have, but again, the pictures Fredward posted are great.

You could alway buy a few sets of stock wiring from someone like myself to get started.

I didn't even really do anything too fancy, I just cut above the stock lights and stripped the wires and crimped them together.

Maxima_Joe, thanks for the offer but I think I will keep things simple and just produce the brackets. For those who want LEDs, Fredward has simplified the process by giving you the link to a product that will work, a couple of spliced wires and you have yourself an LED bracket.

If your license plate lights are just floating around above your bumper cover, more than likely your bracket is shot. For twenty bucks and an hour or so of your time, you can be back in business. Shoot me a PM if interested or if you have any questions.

BUMP for a good seller, his bracket is fantastic and a fraction of the cost of an OEM bracket.

I30TinME still got the license plate bracket. Just purchased a 1997 Maxima for my gf and was putting on the new plates and saw the license plate light just hanging there. The bracket was all rusted away.

Thanks
David

If your license plate lights are just floating around above your bumper, you need a new bracket. You can either build one, here are the instructions: https://maxima.org/forums/4th-genera...t-bracket.html, or I can supply you with one. Your choice. Just let me know as I only have two left.

Thanks.
