Q45/J30 calipers and brackets

ONE SET SOLD, ONE STILL AVAILABLE

hey guys, i picked up two sets of the q45/j30 calipers (brackets included). these are twin pot, so greater heat dissipation with better braking due to larger pad. they're in working condition though they have a layer of grease and some surface rust from lack of use.

i thought about grabbing the rotors but i've no way of telling if they're warped so new rotors is obviously a better idea.
EDIT!!! i've been informed that 95-96 mazda millenia rotors are a perfect match for these brakes and require no modifications to fit. this will bring down your end cost dramatically as you will not have to pay a shop to mill down the q45 rotors.

got a couple of prices per pair for y'all:

$45 as is
$55 for me to rebuild them with new boots and seals
$60 if you want them painted with high heat paint. lemme know what color you're interested in, i have flat and gloss black, flat white, and silver. i can do others but it won't be through my work so it'll be more like $63.

shippping will be about $15

it was pointed out that two brake calipers together do not amount to 70lbs, so i will now ship as it's only about $12-$15 via a flat rate box.

you're supposed to use milled down q45 rotors, but i'm going to mock up the calipers with stock 4th gens to see if it's necessary.

let me know if you do a mock up for 5.5 or 5.0 gen rotors. how similar are these calipers to the 350z dual piston?

^^ Similar as far as being made for Nissan and 2-pot design. Otherwise the 350z is a stock bolt-on to the 4*/5th gens and utilizing a 12.6" rotor.

...Mine are going on as soon as I get the rear relocation bracket/12.3" rotor from fastbrakes.

*4th gens requiring mounting holes to be widened

This might help with your sale. I apologize for the dude who posted pictures side by side that need the scroll.

If I recall correctly I managed to get 2 Q45 calipers into a medium flat rate box for shipping.

Ok, thanks. So they are similar weights as well I'm guessing? I am just trying to figure out whether I should go for the Z with a slight bigger rotor.
Do you know if the Q's fit under 16" wheels?
I have 17s but for autox I use 16 and don't want to be changing brakes each event.

Aaron is my buddy and i will actually be doing his z33 brake mod on my other maxima...

HOWEVER!!!

there are verrrrrrrrry few 16s you'd be able to comfortably get away with using the z33 brakes without doing some serious caliper shaving. i drive regularly on my stock 15"s with the q45 setup. so if you're concerned about using a 16", or even 15" (actually, i'm pretty sure i'd be able to clear a 14" but i've no reason to) then this is the setup you want.

also, rotor weight is dependent on the quality of the rotor as well as the material and design used by the manufacturer. i bought near top of the line napa rotors since the wear plate is much beefier and therefore more resistant to warping.

You should provide us with pics, most people wont even consider purchasing something without seeing what it looks like, just saying..

If people don't even know what a caliper looks like, this is prolly not a mod they should be doing, just saying.

Anyway, I get around to posting pics soon.

Its not a matter of k owing what a caliper looks like... its a matter of seeing what kind of condition they are in... i just pulled my wilwood bbk today and swapped back to oem for the time being but eventually i will be running either q45 or a 6thgen setup pending whether i research whats a direct mount...and if both are... ill probably stay with a 6th gen setup

EDIT: not to mention that i offered to rebuild and even high-temp paint them for basically the cost of parts.

Aware of that, but some of us like rebuilding our own parts, not a big deal at all lol just giving my opi ion after being around here long enough regardless of a detailed description most wont buy anything without seeing it first thats all... me myself would buy these right now but im waiting on a few things to sell first

Do you happen to have any numbers comparing stopping distance of stock 5/5.5 11/11.65" rotors with single piston to your setup 10.7"/2 piston.
Just wondering if the extra piston can accomodate for the smaller diameter.

not quite how it works. the stock brake master cylinder is retained and the rotors will be the same diameter so technically the same amount of force is still being applied. the better braking comes from more friction due to a larger pad being used as well as better heat dissipation because of the larger caliper.

there's no point in you doing this mod as your rotor size would be going DOWN without custom brackets, at which point you're moving backwards.

they have better heat dissipation due to larger mass. you just need to buy new q45 pads and 95-96 mazda millenia rotors.

I'm interested in a rebuilt set painted gloss black. Do you by any chance have the rear calipers as well? What's the chances of you wanting to make a little extra cash by installing these (along witha new set of rotors) on my car? PM me if you have any interest. Thanks.

i'll get back to you. i'm not sure when they changed the calipers, if it was the 5 or 5.5 gen.

EDIT: i'm told as long as you use the mazda millenia rotor as specified, it'll bolt up to a '00-'01 no prob. you wouldn't see as much benefit on the '02-'03 though.
