hood lift supports
Well after 6 months of searching for replacements for my hood supports I got a call from Advance auto parts. He was able to locate 2 lift supports for my '95 maxima. They only cost $16 each and easy to install. Unfornately, he said he couldn't locate anymore. However, if anyone would like to bug their local Advance Auto Parts store the part # is 4524. That # is also for a choke assembly or something like that so be sure to specify lift supports. They have a lifetime warranty but not as smooth as the nissan's but I didn't want to pay $70 for one.
I hope this helps.

lift supports
I haven't been able to find the lift supports at many places. Carquest sounds like a good alternative if you can't get them from Advance auto parts. However, at AAP they are $8 cheaper than carquest. I can't complain for $33 for two lift supports. I believe NAPA auto parts also sells lift supports for our car.

I think that is the page for Advance Auto PArts lift supports. There is no description for the part though. Is that the manufacter of the supports? Mine don't work either and it pisses me off.

I ordered using the 4524 part # on their website since advance auto parts was a sponsor. All indications led me to believe that 4524 was a lift support made by holley as customer support told me as well. That was what I didn't like it not having the description. However, I ordered it and it was a choke assembly so I had to return it to my local advance auto store. Their customer support was good b/c they refunded all shipping.

Re: Re: Re: Lift Supports
PROBABLY NOT. However, you can find out from a customer rep, but I bet it is NOT the lift supports if you buy from the website. If you goto the store you should get the right part.

I had the same problem ... hood shocks on my '95
Maxima SE no longer held the hood up. Dealer
wanted around $225 to install new ones. Instead,
I bought a $9 part from NAPA which does the trick.
It's called a "Universal Hood/Tailgate Prop" ...
a simple little clamp that keeps the shock open.
The part is made by Thexton (their part #430) and
you can read about it at
http://www.thextontools.com/catalog/...lty/spec_3.htm
I found it cheaper to get it from my local NAPA store
(NAPA part # 700-2401), as Thexton wanted about $10
for shipping+handling. Strangely, I couldn't find it
on the NAPA web site, but my local NAPA store got it
from the warehouse in just a few hours.
Cheap, elegant solution!
