Sad News!!

My parents allow me to drive their 1995 Nissan Maxima, keep in mind I am 17. I wanted to buy it from them and they don't like that idea because my step-dad knows how fast the Maxima is and can be. So they want me to look for a different car for the being fast reason and because it's costing a lot to repair.

The car has 152k miles on it. Dents and scractches here and there. I have 3 ECU code problems. In the past 6 months the transmission had to be rebuilt, the brakes we almost 100% replaced, and I had to get 4 new tires. All come to a lovely $3000 and I believe that is close to the value of the Maxima.

Should I let them sell it and get another Maxima? Same year only 5sp and white?

you are asking so many questions, a 95 will all those replacemtns with 152k miles on it should be ok for another 40-50k miles i would assume as long as u keep it workin well, if ur parents are giving you that car for free or even charging you like 2-3k its worth it. A 95 maxima with 152k is worth more like 5 or 6k not 3k. o and BTW yes I am also 17

My max is also 95, and its got about 140k miles on it. So far no problems. I recently replaced all the belts, rotors, starter motor for exactly $1000 bucks. They really had to be replaced.... Having spent that much, I cannot afford to get a new car(even younger max) even though mine is about 14years old.. I'm planning on riding this car for the next 5~7 years. Maybe till it dies on me.

Seriously, do you plan to drive hard or are you going to take it easy? I know it's fun to beat on the car, but I too have 152k miles and I need the Max to last me through college and then some. I honestly hope to get another 100k miles out of it - remember it's Japanese, they're hard to kill! (I know a guy who had a Mazda with 360k on it, original engine & trans)

yeah as another 17 year old with a 95 max, i would agree in saying you are very lucky. hold on to what you got man because like they said, that car can last to about 250k (we got mine from my uncle who had taken great care of it, had brand new tires and brand new brakes right before i got it) so enjoy the max man!

looks better that way

I think it looks better with just the front piller car color. I have seen the white maxs with both front and back black taken off, and with the whole piller section white, it kinda makes it look like the family car.

Learn to do the work yourself and the car shouldnt be a money pit. If you take it to the shop for little things that are easy to fix yourself like brakes, it could get quite costly. Other than that 95 max is a car. THe engine should e good for a long while, just make sure you keep up on maintainance.
