Anti-Theft Alarm malfunction

I came home tonight to find my '96 maxima honking and flashing as if someone was breaking in to take it for a joy ride. Only thing is it was safely locked up in the garage where no one could have gotten to it. The only thing that stops the comotion is to put the key in the ignition or pull the fuse. Any one else had a similar problem or have any suggestions?

I thought you could shut it off by putting the key in the door and unlocking the doors, or unlocking the doors with the keyless entry remote....maybe I'm mistaken?

Is it the OEM one you are talking about? Or aftermarket?

Unlocking the doors with the key or remote used to work, but now the alarm sounds regardless of the door locks. The alarm is the OEM one.
