96 gle 5spd vs 1989 mx6 turbo stick
Yesterday I raced my friends 1989 (or is it 88) mx6 turbo against my maxima. We both have a heavy systems in the cars. All I have on my car now is k&n cone filter. First gear, I gain about a car lenght, could be b/c he had bald tires. Second gear, even, third gear, even, but starting to pull on him, fourth gear started pulling away pretty bad. I have an exhaust leak as it is now by the cat somwhere, and he has no muffler, so I don't know if that affects his turbo. If i had my ypipe, I would have had probably 4 cars on him by 70mph.
GLE 5spd? I'm assuming you did a swap
89 MX6 turbo is no joke, that small turbo they have spools nicely and gives great midrange punch, but they really run out of steam above 5000rpm, which explains why you started to really work him at higher speeds. That's why they make a mediocre 145hp but 190ft-lb of torque. Good job. They are good for low 15s stock with a good driver.
