Thoughts on the Dropping Resistor

I just spent a few hours researching and doing the remote turn off of the dropping resistor in my car. When I tested my car I found that the shifts were faster yes and harder but not devistating like other people had described. I think maybe it is because I have an auxilary tranny cooler. I also saw that a person had hooked up a dial to control how much pressure there was and I was thinking of doing that tommorow. I know there are a lot of haters of this mod but I was wondering what everyone thinks now that it hasn't been brought up in a while. How are you controlling the resistor and do you really think it will kill the tranny if used moderately? I ask this because I have a trans temp gauge and I didn't notice any difference in temp on my test run. Any ideas?
