info about Injen CAI
well people have been wondering how does the injen cai get its cold air because the filter sits in fron of the radiator, or its still in the engine bay and things like this...well i wanted more info on this myself and i found out that it gets it cold air from underneath the car...

this is the email response i received from injen:
the reason why we didn't design the intake like the place racing

Just drill the stupid hole and get true cold air...
You know what is also underneath the car and comes up at normal driving speeds on the highway when its raining...Water...the only way to get any water in the PR intake is if you went through alot of water (puddle), sit there, let the water go through the plastic covers, then reach the intake...On the injen it sits open to the elements and to boot its right behind the radiator...sucks in nice warm air up top in the rev band and even hot air from a light..
Drill and forget about it and dont spend 350 for a bunch of extra piping

After looking at the INJUN setup my view is thats its really a Hot Air setup, still getting the hot air from under the hood and behind the radiator. With a splash guard underneath it, it really negates any cool air it could get from under the car.
If you really want cold air you have to go outside the engine compartment. Don't want to cut, fine, but calling that setup cold air is misleading advertising.

the Injen intake isn't really a TRUE cold-air because of the shrouds, the rad, if you have headers you'll notice it gets REALLY hot near the intake and to make it true cold air you would have to suck it up and take the shroud off, wrap your headers, have your fans on hi-speed all the time and even still it wouldn't be that cold. I found after putting on my Injen it was a lot louder (even more so than my exhaust) and there was a lot of midrange power gain but ive never had place racing so i can't really compare.

You just have to be careful not to make it too low. You don't want any water getting sucked up into the engine.
