225/45/18 or 225/40/18

I'm not sure too much about tires..

I really don't know what the tire measurements mean.. well of course the 3rd # is the size of the wheel.. but what about the other 2.. i see everyone with different tire measurements.. but i don't know which one is the best one... or which one should i get...

Thanx

The first number the width, the second number the sidewall height, I believe the 225/45's are too tall for the Maxima. You should be looking into 225/40/18 or 235/40/18 depending on how wide your wheel is. I truly recommend 235/40/18 for the extra rubber for potholes and such.

45 is too big. Go with 40. going with 225 is fine as well since it'll make your wheels looks bigger with the thinner tire, but a 235 may help you out with accidental wheel bending from bumps and potholes.

I asked that earlier and everyone said that 235/40/18 was to wide of a tire for a 7 inche wide rim is this true?

Ahh, your right, sorry about that. I didn't see that. I thought you typed 7.5, that's where a 235 would work. Well, some people also think that a wider tire also gives better steering response in turns if you decide to get them in 7.5 or if they make a 8.

I also already looked into that I'm getting 18X7 Enkei CDR9 Rims w/ a set of 225/40/18 Yokohama Parada Spec-2's Does this sound like a good combo and I wanna lower it but I'm not sure on where to even start when it comes to lowering the car but I've been reading alot of suspension posts

sounds like a perfect combo to me. What do you think of the Konig Blatants in 18's? I'd like to see a Max in those. If were to sell my rims today, I would plan to get those, since its the latest thing out from Konig and everyone happen to have the Konig Verdicts now. As for suspension, I say get the Sprint springs and KYB AGX struts, that'll give the best drop and you won't sacrifice ride quality. Eibach and H&R springs happen to lower the car and give a nice ride if you plan on using non-adjustable struts, but some people have been complaining that they don't get the lowered look. I happen to have Intrax Springs (1.75" drop) which is almost as low as Sprints (2" drop) but I decided to get the non-adjustables and my ride quality is pretty good. I know for a fact that it is recommended to get KYB AGX's (adjustable struts) with anything lower than Intrax springs such as Sprints because non-adjustable struts will not last long due to the stiffer spring.

Is a 2 inche Drop a BIG Drop for a Maxima? or what would you consider big, I mean I don't want a SLAMMED look i still want to be able to drive around I mean I know if the car is lowered I'll have to go up inclines at an angle and slowdown at dips and stuff and I just looked at the Konig Blatants and I just don't like the look of them? Also they're a little more pricey than I can handle

Well, if you check out my homepage, I have a 1.75" drop, I don't think its slammed, I think anything dropped lower than 2" I would consider it slammed and that would be with coilovers. If you click on my Nismo808 page from my friend's list on my homepage you'll see what Sprints look like with 18's. It looks slightly lower than mine. As for the ATS DTM2000's, I couldn't find out what they look. I'm pretty sure they look good. I only like the Konig Blatants because they're something that's on almost every car in Super Street mags and are easy to maintain. I guess I have that, what's in and what's not style. Let me see what wheels your getting.

Go there to check what size tires you need when you change the size of your wheels so that it doesnt mess up your speedo- and odometer readings.
