225/40/18 or 235/40/18 for my 18"x7.5" wheels?

Hi All,

I am in the process of researching/buying tires, and I am wondering whether or not to go with 225/40/18's or 235/40/18's for my 18"x7.5" wheels. I would rather go with the 235/40/18 for the extra width, but I am wondering if I will get any rubbing or if it will be too wide for my 7.5" wheel. BTW I have an offset of 47mm with the new wheels, which may be decreased with the help of H&R spacers later on.

The 225/40/18's are 1.4% smaller than the stock 205/65/15 whiles the 235/40/18's are 0.4% smaller.

Thanks

225 and 235 are acceptable for 7.5" rims. I am surprised the wheels fit the car. If I were you, I'd use 235/40/18 and get 10mm spacers anyway.

Definitely, the wheels will fit. My cousin (rastamanmax) has the same wheels and offset, and they fit perfectly with 225. I am thinking of going with 20mm spacers in the rear, because the front's look fine, but the rear looks a little too pushed in.

I think 20 mm is too much. I'd get the 15 mm spacers if I were you.

I had 18x7.5 +45 with 235/40-18. I wouldn't do it again tho, cuz the tire overhangs too much imo. Plus, kumho recommended 235/40 on 8" wide. You can do 235, many do. I think I'm a lil more concerned than others, even tho I haven't heard anything bad happening on a Max.
