i was thinking of getting a new clutch and flywheel but don't know which stage clutch to get.... i want it to be worth while but i don't want it to feel like my friends civic. (can't get a smooth start) So i guess i want to start smooth, yet at the same time i want to have enough tourqe to chirp 3rd. any help please...

Well a clutch will not give you anymore torque, however a stong clutch can help ya chirp third. Search around on here, a lot of people use the ACT street clutch and are very happy with it... I have one in my living room waiting to go in with my 5spd... Ive also heard good things about the JWT, though they are a little more pricey. Honestly, if I wasn't planning on adding a LOT more power to my car, I probably would have gone with a stage1 JWT, but since I am, I chose the ACT... The stage 3 JWT is supposed to be comparable to the ACT street clutch, but is supposed to feel a bit softer, more like the stock clutch...

it really depends what you want and like. if you want to mod your car a lot, go with stage 3, but if you want something smoother go with stage 2. i hear good things about ACT though
no one has anything negative to say about street disc, heavy duty pressure plate( ACT street setup), so when my ACT clutch gets installed this weknd ill see if i jump on the bandwagon.
i have negative to say about that dam clutch pedal...its stiff as a b!tch! I can definitely chirp third dough, trying for 4th now but doens't look promising....but if i had a second chance i wouldn't get pressure plate...or maybe its the clutch line causing my problems?

my act is no stiffer than stock, dont know about chirping gears yet, still breaking it in, but, i have accidently chirped 2nd twice without meaning to, so I dont think i will have a prob.

how about this... i have intake, downpipe, and cat-back. i can't chirp second but i want to, yet i also want something that i can drive smoothly in... my friend told me about some clutches with springs in them and some without. he said for a smooth start during everyday driving, i will need a clutch with springs in it... is this right?? he also said that a stage 1 by act would suit me good?? right?Originally posted by mtrai760

the springs on the clutch disc just balance the disc differently often times making smoother, less chattery starts.

the act nm1-hdmm kit is fantastic, but i do get chatter if i am starting under 2000rpm, no biggie tho, and the disc does have springs in it

what does "chirp" mean?? Are you guys talking about when u shift and the tires screech for a second cuz tire isn't rotating as fast... or rotating too fast??

I always tried to chirp in third, is that possible with the stock clutch? About the chattering, I get that, but it started as soon as I did a tranny flush and replaced it with GL-5 spec oil. Also how much does a ACT clutch typically cost?

i dont know if i can chirp 3rd, still breaking in the new clutch, but i have accidently chirped 2nd twice, so i dont think it will be a prob
chatter is not too bad, i reinforced my mounts when i had my tranny rebuilt, so i know my chatter is more pronounced than yours would be, i think it is a stage 1 heavy duty. you can find it for $350-$450 shipped, it is hard to find now, you may have better luck going to www.advancedclutch.com and getting part numbers for all the parts in the kit and piecing it together (or you could wait)

No Doubt, the ACT Street setup is the way to go..mine was installed about month and a half ago, just loving it..

The Act Street set costs anywhere from $330.00 to $375.00 it depends on the seller. It was a Org member selling them not to long ago for 330.00 pablo. Go to search look up Act clutch he may be still selling them. I'm
