well... if you clock does not hold time when the car is off the there is a bad fuse.. check them.. if it a clock failure.. I have one .. first $50 gets it..

Yeah, all I can think of is a bad fuse or a bad negative terminal connection on your battery( check to make sure it is not too corroded) or possibly a battery on its last leg?

Maybe the connector at the back isn't plugged all the way in.

It might be time for a new one. Mine eventually died a few years back. The only way to check is to check the voltage of all the wires going to the clock. If they are good, and your clock STILL doesn't operate, then the clock is dead. This accessory is fairly an expensive one, too! Nissan charges close to $200.00 for a new one. OUCH! You're better off looking for one at a local junkyard. That's what I did....and for only $20.00!

Mine still holds time, but doesn't illuminate consistently. Is this the clock or something else?

My clock didnt work either out of the nissan dealer and then the service advisor just installed a fuse so that might be your problem or the clock is broken!!

Most probably the memory is still good in the clock, but the filaments are starting to die/burn out. If you can get your hands on another clock from another Max, try that one and see if that works...if it does, then you know DEFINITELY your clock is bad.

I did the clock mod
(added a switch so I could keep it from dimming when I put the headlights on
- which I always do even when driving during the day)

Anyway, that went fine... for a while.
After about a month or so it started going out every once in a while.
Sometimes just giving the top of the dash a whack would get it to come on again.
When it loses power it resets to 12:00.

Well, I had a hard time removing the dash panel and I could never get it to go back together,
so it was easy for me to look behind it.
If I jiggled the group of wires that the clock wires were in, I could get the clock to come on,
but I could never get it to stay on.

There is a little connecting plug in the back.
I took this apart and put it together. Still no luck.
It is obviously a loose connection in there somewhere (at least for my problem)
and I don't know how to solve it. I can't figure out where the problem really is.

I don't think it is a bad spot somewhere along the wire. And the plug/connector seems fine.
I'd hate to have to replace the little plug - seems like a lot of work.
And I think the clock is fine - it works when it gets power.

I was thinking about using conductive gel in the plug,
but if it leaked around in the plug (likely I think) it would short it out.

Any ideas?

(oh please)
