How do you know if struts gone bad??

I was checking my struts(KYB AGX) the other day and noticed that the right rear strut, when i compress it, it doesn't come back up to it's normal form. Then I checked the other side(left side) and compressed it. This one came back up. Do I have a bad strut?? I just bought these this year around March. What are the warranties on KYB AGX??

THANXS~~

If it's really really bad you can tell by pushing down on that corner of the car and let it rebound quickly. If they are down right shot it should go up and down a couple times. It it stops instantly then they aren't all that bad and i wouldn't worry unless you drive like a mad man.

this is a good question.
cattman pairs the agx up with progress which is 1.7/1.5.
the agx warranty paper (thanks to phatbastard for faxing to me) says the struts shouldnt be used to lower too much. i dont know how they choose to NOT honor your request for a new unit- cant you just lie and say its 1.5?

When the worn/damaged strut gets back to KYB, they'll dismantle the entire unit, and simply by looking at the wear patterns on the strut shaft, and sealing surfaces, they can tell how low the car was dropped.
