Windshield troubles - gap too large?

So I had my windshield replaced last week and it came out fine except for the top molding which wasn't flush against the glass. It's more of a cosmetic thing than anything else b/c we had a crazy rain storm 2 days later and no leaks. Still, it looked bad so the guy came back a couple days later to fix it. He tried to glue it down, didn't work. He comes today to put in a new rubber strip that the molding clips into. It STILL sticks out, now worse than before. He said that there's a larger than normal gap between the glass and the metal with Maxima's so that's what the problem is. He also said that the top molding on Maxima's aren't the best, so he is going to tear out the whole windshield and wrap it with a rubber molding instead of using the original one I currently have.

Anyone have any experience with this? I'm a bit leery of the company at this point b/c the guy didn't come with another windshield today and now I have to wait until Monday. It's turning into quite the PITA. Wouldn't be so bad, but I gotta drive all over CT/MA/NY this weekend with tape on the molding. I'll just pass it off as my new, sweet mod I guess.

Sorry for the lengthy vent.

Still need help with the windshield!

I paid nothing, my insurance is covering it. I'd really like to know if anyone has had their windshield replaced WITHOUT using the top molding that comes standard with the Maxima. Should I keep it the way it was or is this 'wrapped' method better? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
