CustomMaxima.com Coming Out With Projector Headlights

Been working with a company designing projector headlights for 4th gen. I am trying to get an idea of how many of you will be interested. Their will be an incredible initial cost for me to invest in the production, I am talking over $60,000. Price will be around $350 a set. If I can get at least 25 people to pre order I will have them ready in approx 6 weeks. Those that pre order will get them for around $300. Please respond to this thread with you comments. A poll is above please vote if you would be interested in them.
Thanks,
Greg

Whats a projector light?? Is this the lens or the actual bulb?

the light housing.. kinda like how the Audi A6 looks and the BMW's .. where you just see the little light.. and the light has better direction..

Hmm.. so I will still have my ooglie glass '95 lense cover ?

I dont think you could see ANYTHING through these

BTW, Does this projector setup include the round rings like the '02 Maxima's have ? They have 3 of them, and it looks really nice.

will it actually be useful??? i see civics with projectors and it didn't improve the lighting any... my wife's civic stock headlight put out more lighting then the aftermarket civic projectors... also would we be able to upgrade to hid w/o losing high beam???

If they are done right, they can be very good. Car and Driver put a set of Hella projectors on their long-term Ford Focus test car and loved them. They said they were light years ahead of OEM.

I vote yes.

All i can get is drawings, obviously a prototype cannot be made unless tooling is paid for. I plan on having them made so that they have very efficient lighting. Maybe using hid lighting is an option.

o

maybe I am just slow tonite but I still don't know exactly what the **** these are..

are they the glassy sweet looking housing that looks like a mirror maze and the light ? If so, there are many designs and I would like to see one.. also if i am correct, the 3 ringed look like the '02 would look SWEET.

BTW, will these totally replace my headlights (ooglie glass lens and all)

What type of projectors will you use?

I want to echo Yellowbrother's opinion on those aftermarket Civic projectors. Most of those aftermarket projector lamps (OBX, APC, etc) use a modified foglamp projector for lowbeams. I've been in a 99 accord with them and a 96 civic and the light output is worse than stock. If projectors similar to the ones used in the aftermarket Honda projectors are considered in the development then I would not be interested.

I would be interested if Hella's modular projectors are used for lowbeams, like the Car and Driver Focus mzmtg mentioned. They are 90mm in size and should fit the dimensions of the headlight housing. The highbeams are the exact size too.

I've rode in a '92 240sx which had these modular projector headlamps/free form highbeams custom-installed. The light output is IMO on par with the BMW E46 nonHID freeform lowbeams. Top-notch. They are $60 apiece retail. I'm sure you have the capacity to purchase them wholesale at a substantial discount.

I've personally used Hella products. I have owned and used:
1. H4 "6054 sealed-beam" conversions for my truck and old Accord
2. VW Passat DE headlamp conversion (projector headlight assembly) for my old Passat.

Let us know what type of projectors you will be using. Thanks.

I would be very interested depending on the light output. If you could get dual projectors with an adapter harness that significantly improved light output I would start saving today. That's the big thing for me, I want to get rid of the car's mediocre beam pattern.

I would be interesting in these ONLY if they came with HID. I just love that look of HID. Anyways, I am all up for it.

You know that you can always buy the aftermarket retrofit kits after you get the projector headlights, right?

I too would be interested in these. Depending on the light output. My friend had projectors on his civic, and he said they were worse than stock, so he switched over to factory.

Greg, could you do kind of like what you did with the front Z3 fenders and at least show a close picture to what you are talking about, even if it's on another car? Just so we can get a rough idea. Thanks.

P.s. Will these be one-piece?

ps - if you need any ideas definately check out the threads from that guy who was having the projectors custom made. he had some "angel eyes" in there too... looked incredible. if these are done right there will be a huge market.

I'm interested...

Only if it is a DUAL BULB setup. I want HID but I am not willing to give up my high beams. $350 is a fair price if they look good and work well. Good luck and post some prototype pics when you get them.

Oh, and if they had integrated sidemarkers (1 pc) that would be ccol too.

How about 1 piece lights? Ones that fill in the side corner lamps too. That would clean up the front up quite a bit.

if they are...

if they are...

1.oem quality (well sealed to avoid condensation)
2.Dual Projectors
3.Better quality lighting than stock

I will order a set.

Optional but extremely cool:
3.Halo (like BMWs)
4.One piece design

Good luck!

this would be really cool if they are all one piece around the front and good quality, i would definately be down when i get enough money, much better deal than just upgrading from the 96 look to the clear 97-99 look.

You got another buyer right here! I saw someone about three months ago,on one of these Max sites, that was in the process of having some made. I also agree that they should be 1 piece if possible & the BMW halo style would be nasty! Just show us some pics & we can take it from there.
