I need to do 60K maintenance on 97 GLE and wander what spark plugs should I use. What do you think about BOSH platinum +4 or splitfire?. What is a good place to get NGK plugs at a fair price?

I suggest you go with the NGK platinums. They're expensive as hell, but it's worth every penny. You only have to change em every 60k so if you think about it, they're not all that expensive.

Don't get the Bosch Platinum +4's !!

I had them in my car and I thought they sucked. I raced my girlfriends stock '96 SE and could barely beat her with the Bosch's. Put the NGK's in and I walk all over her. Stay with the NGK's.

NGK's cost me $11/plug at the dealership. I think it's worth it though. Change them 60k and 120k. (At least that's when it's recommended.)

The front 3 are under the plastic cover that says 'NISSAN' on it. The other 3 are on the other side of the engine, closer to the windshield. Once you get the plastic cover off the front, you'll know what to look for. There will be 3 black things, each held on by 2 bolts. Undo the bolts and pull them out and your plugs are down in those holes. Be careful when you remove the rear ones cause its easy to drop the bolts under the manifold. (Been there, done that, it sucks!) It's real easy to do. Good luck.

I went to your page and read about the part where you said the Bosch +4's caused damage to your friend's engine. Can you tell me what kind of damage? I was close to putting them in my car but then I didn't.

What about the new Iridium plugs? Will these outperform the Platinum? I think I'll go with Iridium's when I change mine.

Re: Re: help

Check your owner's manual...it also has directions on how to replace the spark plugs as described below. How many other manufacturers show you how to do that!!!

i have denso iridium plugs in mine. i figure if the ngks cost 11-12 bucks..and the densos cost 13-14 bucks..what the hell?..why not spend some extra money and get the good ish.
since i drive my car everyday i couldnt "feel" a difference with those bad boys in. BUT my g/f drove my car before and after, and she made this facial expression and stated that she felt a difference.

Does anyone know why the NGK Platinums are so good? I keep hearing that they're the best, but why???

NGK Platinums are going for $6.00 each from Extreme Nissan...look in the FS Forums and do a search on "30%"

This deal only lasts until Mardi Gras is over....

I got 12 myself!!!
