Nope trans pan doesn't need to be droped. I helped my dad do this, it was a piece of cake. I can't remember exactly the procedure but it we started the car and used the pump to pump out 4L at a time, replace then pump another 4L replace, then again for all 12L, it was pretty easy acctually. I'm sure he will chime in here and tell you how soom... Good time for you to put on a trans cooler too. If you plan on runnin the car hard it's cheap insurance on an expensive tranny. Espically if you don't have a VLSD.

Yo Jime?

If you are really concerned about if there is any filings in your pan, you can take it off and clean of the magnets then put it back on but its not necessary.
Just drain the sump, its about 4L and replace with the same amount you drained out. Then take off the discharge from the trans to the cooler, put it into a clear 4L container and start the car and pump until its about half full (2L). Stop the car and replace with 2L of new fluid. Repeat this until you can see the diff between the new and old fluid. Usually around 10L. It actually holds 9.4L or 10 US Qts.

Make sure you have someone start the car while you hold the hose in the container. Its takes about 30 sec to get 2L but better to have someone to help you.

PS I use Mobil 1 Synthetic

He is Jaime. Now the brat has a Talon, but he is going to have to spend some money before he can spank his old man.

Yeah, that's me

Oh yeesh. The smack talking begins. Yeah, I'll shut up for now the talon still has the stock turbo and ic so it's maybe if I'm lucky a high 13 second car, probablly a low 14 second car. The difference between a low 14 and a low 13 is a lifetime, believe me. However a 16G turbo and mount that supra cooler I have is a whole other story.

Besides Dad, don't make me put the direct port back on the GTi. You know that was a whole can o' whop ***...
