Rear brake smoking

SO i had to make a hard stop last night and noticed that my rear passenger side brake was smoking, other than the usual things to check, what else should I look for. I am going to take the caliper apart and make sure it's not sticking and make sure the pads are seated correctly...what else?

That sounds like what it probably is, a stuck caliper. In order to "smoke", the brakes have to get extremely hot. If no signs of sticking, you may have seen the smoke from the tires locking up. Although you probably have ABS in the rear at least and shouldn't have. Probably a stuck caliper though.

No ABS, and it wasn't a skid stop just hard braking and the rear passenger was the only one that smoked.

May have just been your pad material burning...

Just raise the rear wheel in question, with the some tire chucks at the front tires, and spin the tire by hand... If the rear caliper is sticking you'll notice it will drag. Make sure your parking brake is off.
