Rear ended last night, glad my car is a 97!!!!!
Well last night I got in my first wreck ever. I got rear-ended right in the middle of "the strip" here in Knoxville by people in a clunker with no insurance (naturally!) They really hit me hard....my neck hurts from the whiplash. Here's the good part- other than a scuff mark or two (which can be buffed out in about 10 seconds) there is absolutely NO damage!!!!! I am shocked beyond belief!!! They hit me so hard that their winsheild popped out and was on the ground, and there wasn't any damage to mine!! I really can't believe that.
The first thing I said as I was getting out of my car facing them was "Do you have insurance....", of course they said no, which I was assuming, but when I looked down at my car I sure as hell wasnt expecting my car to have no damage!!!!! I sure am glad I have a '97, because the rear bumpers were supposedly weak on the 95-96. I figured the car would crush like a coke can b/c it's Japanese, but apparently not! Nissan really must have taken initiative and streghtened the bumper, because this was a pretty hard hit- like I said their windshield popped out! Even the cop noticed, he was like "I can't believe your bumper isn't even dented.." Well everything turned out ok, but it still ****es me off that they had no insurance...it makes me resent my having to pay 200+ dollars a month.....I know bumpers are supposed to withstand a 5 MPH impact, but this was at least 10....I was rolling a little when they hit...maybe that helped....anyways just wanted to share my first wreck experience.

hehe damn did you hit the guy or at least loose it? I woulda kicked his no insurance havin *** around the "strip" dumb hicks. Glad the max came out on top. (was there ever a doubt?) anyway on a side note I wouldn't call it a wreck, cuz you didn't really wreck your car hehe his was just a POS so you know the windsheild was already falling out before he hit you

HOLLA!!!
You should inspect the car behind the bumper fascia, just to make sure nothings out of whack. The bumper fascia is a bit flexible, so it could pop right out and 'cover up' any damage.
And you're lucky I guess, it didn't push your exhaust forward.

in physics, theres called an inelastic collision, when the bodies in teh collision are permanently deformed. sometimes, the inelasticity is absorbed completely by one body or the other (not even the stronger one...for instance you can roll two eggs together, one will break the other wont) so you got lucky that his car absorbed the inelasticity
Sorry to hear about your accident but glad that all seems well.
Don't sign off on anything and do get yourself checked out by a doc
with some x-rays or go to a chiro, whichever floats your boat.
You all should check with your insurance companies for two optional
coverages; uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist. They helped
me with my first car when a stupid @$*@!*( hit me and had no
insurance.
They're usally only a few dollars per 6 month period. Not much to
worry about when you're already staring at $150 to $200 per month.

I hate no insureance bastards too, those bastards. Glad your ok tho. For your car i think you should take off the rear bumper and check if the foam is still, it is proabably what absorbed your impact. I would take of the bumper and check or just look under the car if u can. Foam is only like $20 new anyway so it couldnt hurt to check and replace it if it was damaged.
