Let's give him the benefit of the doubt... I'm pretty certain any stock Maxima could hit 200+ mph. All you would need to do is drive it off a cliff :)

I wouldn't doubt that you could get a Maxima up to 170 if the conditions were perfect. If you had 10 miles of straight, downhill road with no other cars in sight... you might be able to pull it off by getting the car up to ~160 and letting gravity accelerate you the rest of the way.

4th gear in a autotragic goes up to 180 i think

only 4th gens that have limiters are gxe's w/o C&C package and some gle's, other then that, none have a speed limiter
180 in an auto? If it is possible it would take a few hours......

Exactly. What he said.

But now that you got a variable intake, that top speed is going UP baby!

With the VI, you can hard charge to 130 mph in 4th, when normally, the VQ would run out of breath before redline, around 115-120 mph, forcing an upshift to 5th. Then, after reaching 130+ mph in 4th still with LOTS of momentum, you upshift to 5th and continue the vigorous run to 145+ mph! Oh, that's inspirational!

Every person on this thread is wrong. There is NOT a governor at 140, TONS of people have gone faster than 140. Heck Motor Trend got a 95 5spd to 142.1mph. The only governor is at 116, and that is only on certain GXE maximas. With the stock tire size, the 5spd maxima's maximum possible is speed is 158mph, which is redline in 5th gear.
