resonance w/warpspeed exhaust
resonance w/warpspeed exhaust
I recently bought WarpSpeed's non-mandrel y pipe and their b pipe w/o a resonator. I also bought their test pipe. (btw...on a 96 is there a hole needed for a sensor in the test pipe?) I am planning on running this all w/a stock muffler. Should I have gotten the b w/the resonator or will I have to buy a resonated tip for my muffler? I am asking this not b/c I think it may be too loud but I heard the sound may not be as high a quality w/o some sort of resonator. Thanks.
I may be missing something but if you already own it why don't you put it on and then decide if you need to do something else
And I belive the 96 has a sensor in the cat and therefore you would need one in the test pipe, BTW you are destroying the enviornment
If you are waiting for it and considering changing your order than I guess I am not much help. A few members in the 5th gen forum have removed the resonator and left the stock muffler but the all seem to have the stock Y-pipe. They all seem happy with the sound and someone even posted WAV files, but the general agreement is that an aftermarket y will increase the noise level.I have a Warpspeed resonated B-pipe on the way that I plan on running with the stock cat and muffler and Warpspeed y-pipe, I will post my impressions of the sound after I get it on. I did change my mind back and forth several times before settling on the resonated B.

I've got the WSP non-mandrel Y-pipe with a RT cat, Stillen B-pipe with no resonator, and the stock muffler with a resonated tip. There is absolutely no resonating and the sound is quite nice (20% louder than stock). Get a resonated tip because it will calm down some of strange "GM sounding" rasipness in the low rpms. A true test-pipe won't be that much louder. I doubt it will cause any resonating as long as you keep the stock muffler.
