300ZX Brake question!!!

I was wondering, Is it worth it?

what does it help with, Fade or stopping power or both?????

I was thinking about getting ti and someone will give it to be for 500, A whole kit brake pads, rotors, calipers and lines ETc....
Is it worth the price and how is it in wet weather?

Thats a good price for 500, but its alot of work. I dont think that our stock brakes are that bad. Its not worth the work to me tho, alot of grinding down!

Well, it all depends on what you're willing to do. I just installed a set on my car and I must say that I noticed shorter stopping distances instantly. The only drawback I noticed is that the pedal must be depressed slightly further before they start to bite up but only slightly. Working at a Nissan dealership, I asked some techs to check that out and they all said it feels fine and that they remember that most Z's require more pedal pressure to brake then other Nissan vehicles. Knowing that, you'll have to grind back the control arm where it connects to the knuckle and grid down the bolts which hold the caliper on by alittle bit also. As for the rotors, you probably already know u have to grind down the radius by 3mm. Everything else is a breeze so good luck if you decide to stick with it.

Can you just go to a junk yard and look for a 300Z and use the brakes of that?

Yes, you can. But there is a difference between 90-91 non-turbo brakes and 90-96 turbo brakes. The 90-91 non-turbo's had cast aluminum calipers(26mm rotors) which were later discarded for cast iron(30mm rotors) in later years due to rotor warping issues. Now I have the 26mm's on my car and from prior experience now that you have to beat the living stuff out of the brakes to warp the rotors so in other words they work just fine. So if you go to a junkyard to find calipers and rotors, make sure you pay attention to the year so you know which set you're getting.
