I have a 1995 Auto Max...I have a custom exhaust system done, i was wondering how much power i would gain if i got a y-pipe and a ram air intake system. I need to beat my friend RSX Type S

 

the type S will smoke you, sorry to say it......regular bolt on mods wont help much.........figure your getting about 145HP at the wheels, those mods will add about 20 to the wheels.

 

i would say you are most likely have around 155-160 at the wheels more or less...correct me if i'm wrong, but the y-pipe plus intake in addition to your custom exhaust should give more or less 15-20hp...which i believe still won't bring you up with the type s, especially if you're auto...or i might be way off?

 

What is your friend doing racing an auto 4 door car? If he beats you...its all good cuz he's 5spd and 200hp. In fact, he should feel bad that an auto 4 door car can keep up...I have faith in the MAX.

I would say your exhaust with a ypipe and intake will add no more than 15hp to the wheels.

If you get a 5spd swap and variable intake manifold, you will take him, but will set you back quite a bit in terms of $$. Buy a ypipe and intake anyways and go at it. He won't take you by that much. Be safe.

 

James, just install the things and give it a shot. Unless you're racing for money, in which case, you should borrow someone's Vette or MKIV Supra turbo or something similar (tell the guy it's your other car and you didn't seriously think he wanted to race you in your Maxima... it's a family sedan for chrissake!).
