my budget y-pipe doesnt fit my 99 max fed spec

I had my car up on a lift to install my y-pipe but looking underneath the factory y-pipe is different than my budget pipe. My factory y-pipe has 3 o2 sensors and the front pipe has a 5 bolt pattern with a pre-cat instead of the three on the budget pipe.

my car is a fed spec production 7/98. Did I purchase the wrong y-pipe?
Do they make one for my car?

As far as I know, ALL 99 model Maximas are Cali-equipped.

It was suppose to fit 95-99 maximas. Am I looking at the wrong pipe?

Can't tell if your car is cali or fed, but YOU ARE looking at the wrong ypipe. I know this for sure.

Sounds like a Cali Spec car to me. How many o2 connectors are in your engine bay directly in front of the valve cover? My 99 has 4 connectors there and it's a Cali spec vehicle. Fed spec vehicles will only have 2 connectors there.

Yeah, sell it to him now!!!

My brother ordered a cattman fed spec for his 2k. He paid something like $50 for overnight. Guess what, he found out his car was cali. He had to send it back to cattman, and paid lots of shipping to send it back and to receive the correct one.

He did overnight shipping for the wrong pipe because his daddy pays for his credit card and he is a spoiled brat. But he is out of school, daddy dont pay for the credit card anymore, and my brother is very poor now.

Re: my budget y-pipe doesnt fit my 99 max fed spec

Don't worry I had the same problem. My 99 max is a cali-Spec, and I purchased a y-pipe from budget that didn't fit. The told me I could send my pipe back and exchanged it for a Cali-spec pipe that is Mandrel bent and Stainless steel. I only paid $160 for the pipe. Just call them back and tell them your problem. They should exchange it with no additional fee.

Dam.... I thought I had a fed spec vehicle but to my dismay i believe it's a cali spec according to njmaxseltd. I checked to see how many connectors I had in front of my valve cover. I also have 4 connectors. I would have figured it would be a fed spec considering I purchased the vehicle over in the east coast.

Jamsan the y-pipe is yours if budget is not willing to exchange for a cali pipe.

People that had purchased a cali spec y-pipe, are there 3 holes on the y-pipe?

Thanks for your help...

try the search function for fedspec. If you look at the front of the engine compartment, right in front of the valve cover, there are O2 sensors. If you have 4, you are CA-spec.
