Is my 95 5 speed that powerful

I'm driving on the highway and its pouring like crazy out. Im in 5th gear runnning around 65. I gun it and all i do is spin my tires. I can hear it over the rain. My tires arent bald or anything but they do have some mileage. Plus my fuel filter is probably out and it isnt quite running up to specs. Do any of yall other 5 speeds have this kind of power, or is my car screwed up somehow?

Had it been raining for long? When it first starts raining it makes the roads pretty slick(bringing all the oild and stuff on it up) so that could be it

THis is the 2nd time ive really noticed it. Since i was traveling i have no clue how long it had been raining there. I would assume it had been raining for at least 20-30 mins. Would that be just starting?

i don't know about 5th but my first is crazy powerful, its real hard to drive even with low cruising on first....

I think you were hydroplaning. I did that before my new Potenza RE950's.
