Not easily, it is not a direct replacement and would require a lot of fabrication because the mounting brackets are apparently shaped differently.

Also, it's too expensive right now... maybe if you found one with a Helical Limited Slip for ~$1000 it might be worth it, but it will be a while before that happens.

Local nissan dealer qouted me $4k to do the swap, so it can be done.

$4,000? That's an awful lot of money....is it really worth it? Would there be any performance enhancements from having an extra gear?

Re: Re: Re: 6th speed conversion?

Don't look at me, I just wanted to get some exhaust manifold studs for my se-r. I just happened to ask the service manager and he said for $4k he would do the install. However it would be nice to have a 6spd max tranny in the se-r, but that is too much $$$. Hmm I have a spare bell housing and motor. Anyone want to donate a 6spd tranny? hehe

Should be worth it. If you think about it shorter gear ratios = better quater mile time.

gotta find a trannk from a salvage 2k2 max to do it at half the price at this point... to new dealer most likely has access to the six speed tranny and parts. unless your lucky and found a poor guy that took his car of the lot and gets wrecked by a big rig.
