Ok I have a question, if you have ACC, can you switch out for a unit with the AMB? Example:
I have a 97 without the AMB button, can I swap it out off of a 99 with one? and have it work

well i thought it would be only the button, but when i got the button from the dealer it was just the button cover and it did not include the part of the button that actually pressed the button on the circuit board. So i had to make that part (im sure you can get those parts from the dealer as well). All i did was i took a pencil and cut it to the proper size, glued one end to the button and put on a lug nut on the other end to make sure that the button stayed in place. And i cut out the little tab where the button belongs. Yeah i know it sounds ghetto rigged but it works.

as for swapping the different ACC, i think the only one's you can swap out are the 98 and the 99, because they changed it in 98 and the only addition for 99 was the AMB button.

looks good

I have 97 GLE and can see in the display the AMB when the sun hits it but there is no place to put an AMB button in the ACC. Weird. I wish I could have that too.

Yup, there are a few things Nissan didn't do (or did do) that just kiiiil me. That's one. To me Electronic Climate Control and Outside Temperature Control are pees and carrots. And to add insult to injury they have the 'AMB' text in there. Just to tease us. lol Another one that kills me is no light in the engine compartment. Oh well, I still love my car.

Do all 4th gens have this feature?

I have a 98' SE with automatic climate and cold weather package (heated seats, heated mirrors, etc). My car is a Canadian model. I do not have an AMB button. Do I have the electronics behind the plastic?

from my readings on this topic (search! there's stuff on this) you
can rig the AMB button only all 4th gens with ACC EXCEPT 1997 models...

I know...I have a 97

I never knew that the 99 had a AMB button. That would be great if somebody figures out how to do it for 95-96.

This is interesting---I have a 96 I30T and just went out and shined a mag light into the face of the climate control--and I have AMB as well! I wonder how I can get this to work? We must have some electronics guru on here!

if you have the ACC, and you should(GLE) all the wiring is there. but remember when i got it all i got is the button cover, you should ask for the actual button assembly its self.

u have a 99 right?do u have factory leather? if you have the ACC you should have the AMB button already, if you have the manual temp. control, then you cant do this mod.

I think the temp sensor is up near the hood release somewhere. Thats a guess though. From reading the hundreds of previous posts on this, I am pretty sure this cannot be done on 95-96, unless someone can correct me.

yeah i think the sensor is upfront and low near the front bumper, and sometimes then you are sitting in place with the engine running or on a hot day it gets hot in that area and the sensor reads that temp and that’s why it may seem like its off.

I also installed the AMB button a few weeks ago...cost at dealer was $7.
You can ONLY get the button itself, they do not sell the part that goes inside..you could get it with the AMB button for about $495 (the whoel ACC) just took a piece of wood and glued it to the button...works just like stock.

Questions, Questions, Questions...

1) Do you need to remove the unit to do this?

2) How did you remove the blank plastic "filler" section where the button should be?

3) How does the button attach? Does it have clips on it or something, or do I need to find a way to get it to stay attached?

I am extremely interested in doing this, but don't feel like having an exposed area on my ACC unit if I can't get the button to stay in position. Thanks in advance.

Is the general rule that if you can see "AMB" in the CC display then you are able to do this? I want to know because I have a 97 I30, and I know certain things the 97 max had (clear headlights) didnt come out yet for the I30, while other things that the 97 DID have differed from the 96.

I donot believe that is the general rule. I think the general rule is 97+ ACC Maxima. Sorry, I dunno about the I30, but I think it would be the same as the max.

as far as maxima's this mod only works for 98's with the ACC. it should be the same for i30's but to make sure, look at the ACC for the 98-99's and if the ACC is the same then this should work.

I talked to the parts guy at Nissan in St. Charles. He shows an ACC head unit with a switch for AMB starting 6/98 and up. Apparently Nissan often changes parts mid year. I wonder if this mod is capable for 98's manufactured after 6/98 since they would be getting the new head unit. They may have waited until they started manufacturing 99 model year to put the button in.

98 and 99 have the same auto climate control. 97 and below are different. The ACC in the 97 has like 13 wires and the 98+ has more than 30. Definitely not compatible.

Can anyone confirm that this is the part number of the button : 275A4-2L900

It is labeled as a mode button in the parts catalog. I don't want the wrong button.

I added it to my car a couple weeks ago. All you have to do is remove that centre stack, then remove the ACC control from the stack, then the ACC control cover from the ACC control. Then look for what appears to be a small rectangular piece of electrical tape covering where the button would be. Peel it off, and reinstall the cables temporarily. Using something to push that button, see if you get an AMB reading.

If all this works, go out and buy the button.
