What's the deal with these?

I was thinking of using them as my turn signals when I install my clear rear turn signals. What's the LED? What does that differ than regular?

The LED bulbs are designed not to fade.I had clear tails on my altima, with regular red bulbs, and they had to be replaced all the time.If you are only putting them in your corners,i wouldn't spend the extra cash.I never had a problems with the turn signals fading.I hope this helps.

LED bulbs will never fade or die. They use the same bulbs that are in your spoiler and cram them into a piece thats equivilant to you 1157 or 1156 bulb. I have the clear and red tails and im gonna get them. It will give the tails a very deep red glow at night, instead of looking almost orangie and stock. My 2cents!! They retail at almost $20-22 for one bulb. A MUST FOR CLEAR TAILS!!!

I'm hoping they will make amber LEDs

I would to replace the front and rear clear blinkers with the LED so when the signal is not triggered, the blinkers will indeed be clear. I have orange bulbs in currently, they show through the clear lense and I'd rather they not. Anyone know if amber LEDs are available?

So do they LOOK different when illuminated? Is the only benefit that they last longer?

Lets not forget the LED's light up and die down ALOT faster then the conventional incandescent bulbs and require much less power to operate. Next time you're behind a new cadillac STS, observe how fast the tails light up with turnsignals or braking. Same applies if you're behind a vehicle that has a LED 3rd brake light.

I was thinking of ordering some for my tail lights.
The question is will these fit thru opening in the tail
light assembly that was designed to fit the diameter of the
1157 bulb. These LED 1157 bulbs are much larger in diameter
than a standard bulb...they are available in amber for the
turn singal too...I'll measure the openings in the 4th gen
Max tonight and then call AIE and ask them to measure the
outside diameter of the LED style 1157 design...I'll post
tonight.

I just called Adam at http://www.aieonline.com..He measured
the outside diameter of the LED style 1157 bulbs..They measure 1" in diameter...and they are not yet available in
amber..just red.. Can someone measure the opening in the
tail light after you pull the bulb/socket out on a 4th gen
Maxima ????...If they fit I'm ordering 2 today !!!
What about the 2 bulbs in the deck lid..are those 1156's ??
Those don't light up when the brakes are on but glow red
with the parking lights on ..Right ????..never looked to
see if they get brighter with the brakes applied..
I guess that would be 4 bulbs to order !!!!!!!

Thx, Tmeyers-Colorado

Hey Adam is real cool to deal with. I'm willing to bet he would be more than willing to set up a group deal.

Yes all of them light up when the brake is applied so it would be 4 bulbs to order I was going to get them but the diameter was a factor then, but not anymore I just checked and the diameter is 1" so they should fit,so the red when the brake is applied will glow a deeper darker red? The bulbs in the trunk lid are #1156 also #1157 are dual filament which in turn means it doubles as a park light and a turn signal and #1156 is a turn signal only or a brake light,I deal with Adam and he is cool to deal with I have ther Eurolite XENON bulbs in my Headlights #9004,clear side markers #1157,clear front bumper lenses #194,and Viusion Fog lights #H3 and they look real good.

Yes you do need 4 #1157 bulbs they just look clear on the site by the pic,but they are red,to clear up the matter they are LED's just like in brake lights that are on spoilers but they just made them in bulbs form

Found this

doing a LYCOS search:

==================================================
Well the $10 Bulbs are the best you can get. I can get you the cheaper bulbs
too, and the red silicone covers.

For red Bulbs you have 5 options.

Cheapest: Red Bulb Covers $3 set (color is very good but silicone fades over
time)

Red Bulbs:

Dyed $4 set (tends to look pink use with Red Bulb Covers, dye also fades
off over time)

Red Glass $7.95 set (Red color not as Bad as Dyed but still a little to the
pink side)

Jap Red Glass $20 set (Twice the light output as other bulbs, dark red glass
gives perfect red color, no need for red bulb covers with these)

Most Exspensive: Jap LED 1157 bulb $40 ea (LED's twirl in a circular motion,
gives tail lights sparkling effect. When Brake is applied LEDs flash
together as a whole. LEDs never burn out due to being solid state.)

Those are basically your options in red bulbs. On my cars I use either the
Jap Red Glass bulbs or the Red bulb covers. I like the color of the red bulb
covers. Its really cool color red.

i have seen led lights that move around when they are lit. a bit ricey but some might like them. also i don't think you will get the same effect as on the new S500 or the caddy. i'd get the led that are all red and come on at the same time. they are great for clears. no pink color. the clear leds are for cars with tail light houseing thats yellow or red. its briter with the led buld. 40.00 dollars is very, very high for one led bulb.
