Where I live, (Toronto) we just got a load of snow. My stock TOYO Proxes tires with 20K are not gripping enough. I am gonna get myself some snow tires. I am not gonna put them on my alloys so I need to get some steel cheepo 15" rims. I want to keep it to GXE specs so I will be getting P205s, but what is the correct rim width for the GXE?

Also does anyone in my area have GXE wheel covers they would sell? 1997-99 preferred, but the 95-96s will do.

Lot of snow. I know all about that here in Chicago this week.

Anyway, TireRack gave me 15x6 wheels with my 205/65/15 Arctic Alpins. Wheels were $44 ea from them. Ugliest silver things I ever seen...

Tire rack

Tire rack has good prices.

Just plug in your car model and make and it has all the sizes on the database.

As for the steel covers, i wouldnt worry too much. You can get some that look "relatively decent" from Tire rack as well.

Besides, the whole point of using the steel rims is so you dont mess up your alloys.

Same area, same car (model, colour, tires, etc.) Similar problem at 30k. So bad it feels like I'm towing a house behind me in 3 inches of snow or more. I actually had someone check to see whether the rear wheels were locked!

Most places quote 15x6 for the GXE, 16x6 for the SE/ES. Prices from $43 for 15" to $50 for the 16". Walmart and C.Tire have similar prices but nobody seems to stock them any more (poor sales last year, I guess).

Best prices on tires at Costco (arctic alpins at $114 for 215/60R15 + $7 install).

Trying to get them installed today, if I can find rims!
