How to disable the automatic door locking/unlocking?

Is there an easy way to disable the automatic door locking/unlocking when you start the ignition/turn off the ignition? It is sort of bugging me....

No big deal - thanks in advance!

hmm we have that feature?? I've had my maxima for a couple months now and never really noticed that... i noticed it in my old car because i had an aftermarket alarm system that had that option. I think its kinda cool. Do you have an aftermarket alarm?

Yeah, I have a Clarion Alarm that came with the Maxima when I purchased it. I didn't think that most alarms would do that though. Maybe this is a feature that comes on the 97-99 Maximas, and not the 95/96ers. Hmmm....

That's definitely a feature from your aftermarket alarm. Try the audio and electronics forum, they might have a little more knowledge to offer you.

do you have the owner manual to the clarion alarm,it should tell how to turn that feature off,if not try to start your car with the driver door open and then close it after it start, this should bypass that feature, good luck

It can be programmed out...

It probably doesn't even need to have the alarm brain taken down. Post your alarm model #. Most likely a Viper (or other DEI line). I'll find you the instructions.

Thanks everyone!

I have the Ungo MS 2000 alarm. I downloaded the manual .pdf off of the Clarion site....it appears I'll need an alarm installer to redo the wiring, but I'll post in the audio forum first.

I had been wondering why I hadn't seen this mod discussed before - I guess it's because it doesn't come stock. Thanks again!
