99 Maxima factory car alarm

Hi I just recently purchased a 1999 Maxima SE and it came with a factory alarm. How come I do not hear any noise or horn blowing when I open the door or rock the car? It seems like the alarm is just a keyless entry. I know for a fact that this is not a keyless entry because one time I open the door and my alarm went off where my horn was honking till I deactivated the alarm. Is there a switch or something that I might of turned off by mistake? Thank you!

all you have is keyless entry. Buy a DEI alarm and you can make anything you want go off when you hit or open a door

Mine goes off if any door is opened. And yes, I checked for myself. Plus my pager goes off if anything is opened.

The 1999 has an optional alarm system. Read your owners manual. When you arm it, you have to wait until the security light on the dash starts to flash. It has door triggers, trunk trigger, hood trigger and chip in the key. It DOES NOT have a shock sensor.

Can you add a shock sensor to a factory alarm?
