you wont get much....
you wont get much unless the pipe is there. the stock pipe is very restrictive. therefore most mods that would be in your 10 HP gain is muffler and intake. or something even more "crazy" than a Y-pipe. you can beat the pipe buddy

If he runs regular gas, use premium. That will allow the ECU to use maximum timing advance.
Check the air filter and replace it if it's dirty, or put on some kind of high flow filter/intake.
Check the fuel filter and replace it if necessary. That's about it.
