Question about struts
Ok i searched but to no availe. Ok the question is: I took off my strut assembly but couldn't remove the top nut off the strut due to the entire shaft of the strut turning. Is this normal? Also if that is a problem How can i fix it. Thanks guys/girls.

Your refering to the rears I hope.
Get an adjustable wrench and hold the flat nub on top of the piston shaft. Then get a box end wrench on the nut and remove it. Make sure your spring is compressed before you take that nut off!

On your front struts, the piston shaft is held from turning by the upper strut mount. The shaft has a cut out that keeps it in place and the upper mounts hole matches this. If your upper strut mount is spinning as well, then you've got a problem.
The only other way I'd suggest you hold that shaft in place is with a vice grip. Find some thick rubber to isolate the jaws of the vise grip. Then grab the lower part of the piston. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE THE SHAFT!!! If you put just one little scratch in the piston shaft, your strut will fail.
You could also just bring the whole assembly to a garage and ask them to break the nut lose with air tools. Then go home, compress the spring and the nut should come off easily. Tip the guy 10 bucks and your all set.
