girl vs the stillen aero kit

why do i even bother talking to my girlfriend about the maxima?
she says the stillen kit looks like it doesnt belong on the car and it looks like excess body pieces that she wants to rip off of the car.

i keep arguing that it looks great but i just dont get why she would say that- it looks awesome to me.
im thinking of getting rid of the lip, since i like the way the car looks clean and stock looking. but then again, im about to get the rest of my kit. not sure what im goin to do
for those of you without the kit, what makes you stay stock looking?
("go cry about it on the org you know you want to" can you believe she says this)

Plain and simple girls aren't into cars. They can't appreciate them like guyz can. Granted, I'm generalizing, but it's the truth. If you like it and other (guyz) like it........ Then she doesn't know what she's talking about.

But if you decided to sell the lip think of me as having first dibs.

True that girls arent into cars, Well Most arent anyway. There are a few that are. Hence some Maxima girls on this site ( Given yall props girls! Anyway When I put something new on my car and my girl says something negative about it. I shrug it off. Because I know to me its the tightest thing on the car. Its good you have input from your girl but dont take the negative things she says to Heart. Build on it. Like you said you were going to buy the rest of the kit. Well, Maybe then she'll be more fond of it. And also not alot of girls are well known to the Touring car look. Which to me, IMO, with just the lip gives the maxima the Touring car look. So keep the lip and mod on my friend. It wont be long Im sure before you have the whole kit and your girl is drooling over it

I say if you like the body kit, then keep the kit! Your girl should respect you and your interests. Sure...she doesn't have to agree with you, but she should respect that it is your car and that you enjoy it. It sounds like she may be a little jealous of the max.

I got 2nd dibs if you decide to sell, I have sterling mist max as well, so it would work for me very well. I have the ionic dynamics kit and I'm just waiting to buy the stillen front lip, I'll even throw you extra loot since your lip is painted the color i want.
BTW, if it was my girl I would tell her she was jealous her car didn't look as good, and if she still had a problem it'd be time for her to buy a bus pass.

hahahaha BUS PASS
sexism? nah i think this thread is a good male bonding place
given right pricing and all, i will definitely get the rest of the kit, its not that i would let her stop me, its just that it got me thinking that the car looks fine the way it does, and its true. i just wonder what keeps most of us bodykitless?
as meccanoble said, money is an issue of course. but does the car really look cleaner without the kit? personal preference sucks, cuz when things are up to me it takes forever to decide
thanks for the responses keep em comin boys, and ladies if they happen to come around

You guys are funny. Ironicly, your GF might be more right than she knows. Nissan has spent millions of dollars and countless time and energy to come up with the 4th gen design(I know it looks like they spend $20! but anyhoo.. )

Now for some reason, a bunch of guys think they can improve on millions of dollars of design and a few dozen design degrees by spending $800 and bolting on some plastic.

How could you be against a body kit? is it b/c of the slim variety for you 3rd gen owners? You are very right about the time and the millions of dollars they spent on manufacturing the design, but keep in mind they make that design to fit the AVERAGE customers wants / needs. They need to attract all type of customers including young and old, even grandmas who rock maximas to the local stop and shop. Body kits are a great add-on which (depending on their design) greatly improve the look of your max (if it's the look your looking for)

I not against kits. I have a front lip. BUT whether or not a kit actually improves the design or not is our opinion only(of course)

If you ask a bunch of guys if it improves the looks, you might get one answer. If you ask a bunch of guys in industrial car design if xxx kit makes the car look better, you might get a different answer. And that answer might agree w/ the poster's GF.

A speculation at best yes, but the point is, what makes a bunch of guys so qualified on what makes a car design better or not? It doesn't matter I guess because it's our decesion to buy not to buy any kits. Then again, there are some hideous looking kits out there. They wouldn't be making them, if SOMEONE wasn't buying them.

yeah its true the design is good but aero kit just looks good
2 cons from having the kit i can think of are: i have to drive a little more cautious with the lip on than now that its off, itll be different going on lifts and ramps and racks, attracts unwanted attention sometimes, and it costs $$$$ - ok thats more than 2

If you like the kit, then you should keep it. I ask my wifes opinion on things but I make up my own mind in the end. Besides, she's your girlfriend. You'll probably be bangin' someone else in a couple of months (how's that for a sexist male opinion. )

hahahah wassup dude

here it is

if you have the money for the rest of your kit........ buy it.

then go home and listen to the parents blah blah blah...

show it to your girl friend and let her blah blah blah about it....

and then be happy cause you like the way your car looks.

and if i had the money for a kit i would get one.
working on something else right now. but i believe the maximas look nice as well without a kit.

hm..jealous, i hear you guys sayin that but i didnt think about it til now. does that really happen? girls envy the car's attention? of course if you ask them they'd deny it, so we'll never have a 100% true insight into this.

and yes the car looks great even without the kit.

So your g/f is not into cars. That's fine but it's important that she should understand if it's something that you like. Hell my g/f didn't even know what the RSB and couldn't comprehend why I would spend so much $$$ on it. with that said she was the first one there helping me bolt that thing onto my car. As a matter of fact she let me lock her inside my trunk to help me align, and bolt the new 97+ trunk on.Kevin

Great to see snow comes before your kids!! lol j/k. more props to ya being a responsible adult realizing that your kids come before your car. Right now my car IS my baby, and being that i have no kids :knock on wood: I will treat my baby the best. I'm only 17 and in high school so I will order my kit, wheels, interior, etc. now while I don't have to pay for the damn kids.

Tell her that you don't like those extra chunks of fat on her @$$ or
thighs or whatever she's most self conscious about (even if it isn't
true). Then tell her you'll drop the lip as soon as she gets her
$hit in order.

oh don't get me wrong, I'm still in debt from buying my max. I've still got $3600 to pay off so you could say I'm in debt, not to mention now jobless. Somehow I figured out a way to purchase the ionic dynamics kit last week.. and the frankencar intake and all the mods before that, hmmm.. gotta put away some side money right?

hah well im not about to diss on her its just that no matter how many times i ask her to explain it i dont get it. i dont recall how she said it but she said something along the lines of it not being a real bodykit, because its just a few thin pieces.
man to me thats the beauty of the stillen kit, i dont want to mess with full bumper replacement kits , its too in your face looking

Then his lip would really drop when she walks out the door!!

*Sil: My girl doesn't understand it either. Don't even worry about it. I probably have one of the most hypocritical g/f's on here. She absolutely hates when I work on my car and will complain all the time when I get something new. But then when its time to go somewhere, she anxiously wants to ride in it. I just made her drive everywhere for a while. That shut her up a bit. Also, bring her to a few local meets. Once my girl saw that I wasn't the only one she cut me some slack. It works.

Re: girl vs the stillen aero kit

I hate most aero kits. I think they look ****ing retarded and just get ghettoed when they scrape on driveways and stuff. However, I DO like the Stillen Kit for the Max. I don't think it's overdone or too big or swoopy, and it doesn't have gay *** vents and ugly bulges and other ugly bull****. If you asked me if I would ever buy an aero kit when I bought my Max I would have laughed in your face, but now I am considering getting the Stillen kit (well...if I ever get the money to get my suspension installed, rims, and finish the stereo...then maybe). I want my car to look kinda classy, any appearance mods have to be subtle and look like they could have come with the car (i.e. 20" chrome rims, huge bumper replacement, gay *** front fenders with ugly useless vents are all out)...but I think the Stillen kit is like that. It looks almost stock, and just gives the car a little sportier look.
