finding how to beat the system
finding how to beat the system
ok guys i need some advice for court, so if there are any maxima memeber, officers your help would be apreciated. i have 2 speeding tickets in the last year. and here in IL. if you are under 21 and get 3 tickets in a year u get ur license suspended. well i got a radar detector and cooled down on the speeding a lot. (especially after reading mings story) well i got into an accident and the cop wrote my 3 tickets. i was drving around a turn and tried to hit the break but it was raining and my foot was wet. my foot sliped off the brake and hit the gas and i went into a tree. well if even one of these 3 tickets stick i am done. my question is... the cop said he would have all the tickets dropped if i showed up in court, but i dont know if i should believe him. and do u think the judge would just give me supervision since these wernt speeding tickets?? i have not yet asked for supervision so i was thiking about it this time?? what do all of you think???
thanks alot for any input, so its so long
my tickets are for
1- to wide of a turn
2-neglagent driving
3-failure to reduce speed... and for this one i have pics of the marks my brakes made, so that shows i tried to slow down right??

It sounds like you could use some good driving lessons at a real driving school(like Skip Barber or something ). I'd look into it and enroll in something like that, if not only for your own life. Enroll also in whatever the court considers an acceptable driving school.
Go to court, show them you've taken the initiative and pray.... Don't try to act like your "foot slipped off the brake". That's not gonna fly.

btw I've never heard of a ticket for wide turning? Is this common elsewhere besides NJ? Those three violations look easy to work around. I've gotten by much worse. You can't beat the system, you can only hope to contain it. Be at least prepaired to pay for something equivilant if they are reduced to non-moving violations.

Sorry to say this but it is complete police BS. They just tell you that so that you will show up on the first day they schedule it, because they know alot of people just don't show up and make more paperwork for them (which they charge extra fines for anyways). I'm pretty sure that 3 ticket rule is going to include moving violations only. If it means that much to you, my advice to you would be to get a lawyer because they have contacts with the prosecutors and give you a 99% chance of reductions to non-moving violations or arrangments with the judge in your favor. It might cost more money but you are keeping your record clean.

I kinda disagree, but only because I had a ticket once for an illegal left turn. It was like a $60 fine or something plus 2 points. I really didn't want the points so I went to court and talked to the prosecutor. I pleaded not guilty and he asked me why...was it because I didn't want the points on my insurance? I was honest and said yes, and he didn't have a problem with it. He just changed the ticket to something else that doesn't have points and is a greater fine. I ended up paying $132, which was like a $100 fine plus court costs or something. I think the reason they do this is because these types of tickets are great sources of revenue for the township, and they could give a rat's a$$ about insurance points if they're going to be getting more cash. This might only be valid in my township or maybe just because my infraction was such a minor one. But you should definetly get a lawyer to help you out. Good luck man!

Esp with negligent driving. Not that that's real serious or anything, but around here its more severe than an illegal left turn.
Getting it reduced by yourself is always variable depending on the judge/city prosecutor.
Methinks it's lawyer time.
