Hood Supports weakening

Title says it all, the hood struts on my SE just can't quite hold up my hood much longer, but a few ?'s for you guys that ended up replacing the hood struts -

Did you have the dealer replace them? If so, was it (in)expensive?
Are there better hood struts than OEM?

It's easy enough to be a DIY job(about 10-15"). I went with an aftermarket replacement since it was HALF the price of Nissan OEM product(~$60 vs $120).

i heard they're pretty cheap to get at autozone if you're looking.

on a similar topic, tonight i realized mine seem to be weakening a little and noticed one of them is upside down. how weird is that?

lol, i didn't know they were that pricey. The car i stripped for conversion had struts which i borrowed

dam, looks like i really didn't get jipped after all...

oh, and its a 5 minute job, i think the screws take a size 10, 11, or 12 inch wrench. Just unscrew top and bottom of each side and put new ones in...

Re: Hood Supports weakening

strong-arm hood strut replacements. the entire p/n is in the 4th gen FAQ's at the top of this forum. the OEM are $120-230 from a dealership. strong-arms are $23 from carparts.com IIRC
