titanium FTSB?
I noticed on their website that cattman had the titanium ftsb "coming soon" for a while. supposedly late spring 2002. anyone have news of this? Do you think the titanium will help?
Also, off topic, i wonder if theres any possibility that a strut brace could be made that bolts onto the firewall diagonally like in thos stangs and even accord coupes.

From the metal seminar I went to, the Ti's only advantage is wieght reduction... because steel or AL is strong enuf in the application given and I am not sure if a FTSB is going to make a differece you can feel or not>? (NOT)
It will be $$'$ I have a titanium rod in my arm and it wasnt cheap.
It may look cool as well...it has a hazy greyish-silver look...pretty neat.

Must just be a titanium finish
The cost for producing a titanium fstb would be prohibitive for the application. Just look at the increase of cost for a bicycle frame (or seatpost or handlebar) as one moves from cro-mo steel to aluminum to titanium. Each of the materials needs to be built to a similar strength in that application. Titanium actually has more give as well - not desirable for a fstb. This problem can be countered by varying the wall thickness of the tube (for example butting the ends) but then the cost is really pushed upwards. One thing about a titanium finish is that it will pretty much retain the same look over time without any care relative to the other materials. Doesn't matter if it's polished titanium, a satin finish, bead-blasted finish.
