bought 95 se, has problems. please HELP

hey everyone. i just bought a 95 SE 5-sp with 100300 miles. got it friday. i got it cheap, but its got some problems that are baffling me. first thing is that right when i got it home it was leaking something fast from right behind the engine. i looked at it today, and it wouldnt give a drop. there was some moisture around where the shift rods enter into the tranny, but im not sure if it was oil. i hope this doesnt mean that all the fluid/oil is gone from the tranny. i thought it may have been water that had collected as the engine had been cleaned, but it had a slight oily residue when it came out. i dont think it is engine oil, unless it got diluted with coolant on its way out, but i cant find any other wet spots on the engine. i've checked out all the fluids except tranny, and they all are full. where is the plug for the tranny?

the next thing that baffles me is that the power steering fluid is bubbling in its resivoir when the engine is running, even when it is cold. is this normal. also when i had the hood up, with it running, i reached in the car to turn the wheel, and their was a click coming from somewhere in the steering rack after about 3 degrees of rotation in either direction. is this normal?

i plan on changing the belts and hoses soon, as they are old.

thanks for your help

Welcome to the Forum.

Im not sure on your problems....the fluid might be what you mentioned...residual from cleaning the engine...that would explain the oily residue. The clicking....hmmm steering rack might be messed up, who knows. Id find a trustworthy mechanic to einspect your car.

Have faith tho A 95 5 Speed is a good find..100k miles or not.

Use the search function (not flamin ya here) it might yeild you the answers you need.

Hopefully others will respond with their input as well.

Good luck and again welcome to the forum.........

Do not read about mods.....its hazardous to your income.

My '97SE does that too. I think it is normal.

As does mine.

I've also noticed that behing the engine on the passenger side, water often spills out when I park. This is just condensation from the AC.

Although mine feels a little oily also. Don't know why that is, but i do know it's not abnormal.
