Question about tire sizes....

A friend was telling me for when I go to purchase new rims/tires (probably next summer if all goes according to plan) that I should look into getting 245/40/18s....do any of you have tires that are 245 width? do they rub at all?

they should be fine but it depends on the width of the rim, 245 are for 8.5", what I have, if you have 7.5" I would get 235's

Do you experience any rubbing at all in the wheel well?

Technically, tire manufacturers recommend at least 8" wide for 235/40-18.

Check out my Homepage...

I have 245/40 18 x 8 40mm offset...
No Rubbibg whatsoever, even at full turns lock to lock

Much more sidewall = smoother ride Fills the Wheel Wells Perfectly.
The Dunlop SP 9000s that I have have a SECTION WIDTH of 10inches! NO RUB, Never even when hitting Potholes
I've had 215(stock)...puny, 225 Still seemed too thin from the back,
235 still were "just a tad small" so 245 I SWEAR IS THE SIZE FOR THE MAXIMA....enjoy the ride

What is a good combo of 17" by 8" rims with 245 tires? I need the rims to be light and the tires to grip very well while still be able to get 40k out of them.
