IMPROVED mpg
IMPROVED mpg
hey... don't know how many of you read my post about this yesterday, but since i didn't get any replies, i thought i would try again. my concern was my diminishing gas mileage over the past year.. so i tried a little experiment on sunday morning... drove about 130 miles @ about 90+ and got ~22-23 mpg. that evening on the way home i drove 70 mph and got ~ 28mpg. this is the best i've got in a long time on the highway, but i'm still concerned b/c at one time i was getting 30mpg going about 80mph. so my ? is, for those getting 27mpg +, how fast are you averaging when you get this? thanks.

I do about 75 - 80 and get about 26 - 27 MPG on a trip. Your fuel consumption sounds just about right. There are many things that can effect your cars fuel economy. Not only an in tune engine, but wheels and tires make a difference as well. Overall weight of you and your passengers, cargo, driving against a head wind, and even air temperature play a role.
Some tires have less roll resistance then others as well, have you changed brands or size of your tires lately?
