obvious mods...

Hey guys, I have a 97se with 90K. Love the max and mine runs great. I try to maintain it to the best of my ability. So far, I have been using synth oil (Mobil-1) and MT90 in the 5spd. As far as mods go, I have cleared the tails myself and installed some diamond cuts up front. Running PIAA 9004s and H3s, Also rewired the fogs and changed the corner marker lights to 1156s. All cosmetic stuff so far, except for a K&N drop in.
I am not a racer but I am looking for some suggestions about mods that are SAFE. I'm always looking for more HP and also, looking for any advice or tips on keeping everything in good shape.
Some future projects include caliper painting and slotted rotors, and a suspension rework. I ain't all that pleased with the stock susp setup. I got a feeling that I can make some big improvements over stock without a lot of work.
Anybody got any suggestions? I am planning on keeping the 16s and a running with Eagle RSAs, I live in Maine and these seem to handle the snow well.
Lets hear it people...
THANKS scrap

Re: obvious mods...

well you have left this pretty open about the performance mods.....any price range here?? any hp range you want to obtain either?? you can get a CAI or pop charger, NOS, SC, stabilizer bars, Y pipe, B pipe, muffler, lowering it (as you said) hi flow cats,ECU upgrade, underdrive pulley, new clutch............ its basically up to what you want and are willing to spend.

Mods are only unsafe when people drive crazy with the extra power. For the suspension. Do the usual stuff and make sure you go to a good shop to get it realigned to be more aggressive and with a street/strip setup. It will handle much better then. More like a beamer. I had mine aligned more sporty a month ago and I'm still lovin it.

I'm in massachusetts and decided to go with a H&R/AGX set up, great suspension! Handles really well and can still deal with new england roads. I have Dunlop SP A2's on my 16's right now, I used to have Goodyear RSA's. I think the A2 is a better tire, still havn't been in the snow with them yet.

For proformance you should look into an intake and/or a Y pipe. I got my budget Y pipe in a group deal and love it. I'm in the group deal for the frankencar intake. An underdrive pully may be be a good idea also. Since your car is a 5spd an ACT clutch would help out proformance a lot.
