Noise at startup
Hi guys,
I've been experiencing a problem with my 95 GXE for the past year or so. Its this high 'errrr' type sound when I start the engine. It always goes away in a second or two and the car runs fine afterward.
Here's what I've noticed over time..
1. Only happens after it has been parked for several hours.
2. Never happens in the summer when it's hot.
3. A few times in the winter it got real bad and I had to step on the gas as I started the engine in order to keep it from stalling.
As the cold season is starting to creep in, I'd like to figure out what this problem is and fix it in the next month or two.
Anyone had this problem before? Sound familiar?
JP

well i think its the starter problem...my starter made a "wheeezzing" sound like early in the morning and after leaving the car for awhile. this has been happening for the pass 1 and half yr. and two days ago my car did not start...it was the starter....had it replaced today.

The errrrr sound is probably your starter hanging once your engine is running. Common problem with 95's. www.motorvate.ca has a writeup with pics to help you fix this yourself. Your starter just needs to be taken apart, cleaned and regreased.
Next is your hard start. Thats easy. Again see the motorvate site and look for Throttle body cleaning instructions.
Both your problems are very minor and are easily fixed with probably under 20 bucks worth of supplies.
Good luck!
