I was wondering too whether Nissan would do it for me...it would be expensive, but I am having a hard time finding a shop that I trust...at least with the dealer I can be pretty sure they're not going to do a ghetto job.

As for price, I've been quoted $125 + alignment and like 400 with alignment (!!!!). I've seen people on here say less, but I can't find anywhere in the Boston area that's cheaper.

$125 + alignment sounds like a good price, seeing that an alignment usually costs $50. I wouldn't go to the dealer, because they always charge the most money.

The way I did it, I went to this mechanic who I worked for in the summer, and he let me use his tools for free.. Air tools, spring compressor, jack, sockets, etc..

For me considering the headaches that could come with this job $125 is well worth it. Since I am going to have the suspention apart anyway I think I am going to upgrade or replace everything that wears out in the suspention (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=106476). Any idea how much that would add to install cost?

Here is a list of performace shops from he FAQ http://www.grmotorsports.com/t2k.html

Did you call PF auto innovations in allstons, off brighton ave? They should charge more than $200, and then bring the car to a nissan dealership for an alignment. The one in Newton did my car.

There's also a place in waltham, on main st. that does suspensions.

In my area, independants regularly charge $300+ to change struts/shocks or springs. ...Dealers much much higher. How good of a deal really depends on your area and where you go.
