I was told to put a resonator/glasspack in the B and it improves a whole lot. Anyone has this setup? As for the raspy or bees in the can sound, yeah I get it but it's not very noticable and isn't as big of a deal to me than the drone.....
This post is for Phat Bastard too!

Yeah I called Stillen today and talked to my sales rep...Andrew....and he said that Stillen dyno and sound tunes their exhaust system with the stock cat.....throwin something else on there that they haven't tested will throw the sound off he said. He said that I could put the stock Cat back on and it would sound nice ... but I would lose the couple of ponies and I gained with the R/T cat. That or I could go to a muffler shop and have a hi-flow resonator put on the B-pipe and hopefully that would get rid of the bees-in-a-can sound!! So if anyone out there has a resonator on their Stillen B-pipe post here please and let us know the results....because that bees-in-a-can sound is getting to me and plus a stock cat new from Nissan costs like $500+

As Austin Powers say.... "It's your lucky day, baby!"
(Raising my hand) Yup, that would be me you are looking for.... I put a resonator in my B-pipe today.
Went to a local exhaust place and they put a 22" resontaor for $60, took them 20 minutes while I watched the whole thing.

So, first thing first, like I said in my last post, I have all Stillen Y, B, Muffler and RT cat. It muffled about 25% of the sound and the bees in the can is gone, the raspy-ness is gone. It is highly recommended to put the longest resonator you can find. Sounds good, I can actually hear my music now and can drive rolling down the window and I don't feel embarrass starting from the stop light right beside a hot mama driving a Lexus! IMO, it sounds a LOT better and you keep all the deep throaty sound. Yes, my Stillen muffler still drones a bit, but a lot less! As for performance, I feel no loss at all as expected. I would highly recommend this if your ears been bleeding for a while.

DAMMMM IT!

I considered putting the oem resonator back on before pulling the Stillen muff.

I wonder if DCMax would give me my muffler back?

SWEEEET so have my local muffler shop put the longest resonator? why so? So they just cut and welded a resonator on your B pipe huh? So the bees in a can noise is gone...that'z totally what i'm looking for. But I wanna keep that nice deep throaty tone you know?
Couple questions about the resonator they put in:

A: Is it stainless? Because I don't want anything rusting though on my exhaust cuz the Stillen B is stainless isn't it? And also I live in chicago with salt filled streets in the winter!

B: Wouldn't it ruin the lifetime warranty on the Stillen parts??

Thanx Tifosi for that post!!

Joe,

Yeah, the longer the resonator the more it'll muffle the loudness. They'll have to cut the B pipe and weld the resonator on. And trust me, you keep your deep throaty sound!

Mine is stainless and so is Stillen stuff, I got a great deal on it. But if you cannot find or afford stainless, you can use high temp paint and paint over the resonator and the welds to prevent it from rusting.... And I'm sure when you alter the pipe, that voids the Stillen warranty, but honestly, what can go wrong with their stainless steel pipe?? You know what I mean?

Tifosi
p.s. With the resonator, I'm SOOO enjoying driving the whole Stillen system!!!

And one more thing... with the resonator on, it brought some bottom end back!

Hey man...I hear what you're saying....but you never know **** happens over the years...and it is a lifetime warranty so....I'm still debating on whether to do it or not.... I called Midas up and they said if they put a resonator on it's not gonna be stainless...and I was like BS so I'm gonna try to find another muffler shop who would put on a stainless. So wait you're basically replacing like 75% of the B-pipe with a resonator if you get it real long? I dunno I'm still debating.... But thanx for all your info bro...I'll keep you updated with what I decide to do!

Yeah, for me, I'm not too worried about anything will go wrong with the b-pipe....

Not really 75% of the pipe, more like the most 50% of the pipe. Check member krbga, we pm'ed earlier. He actually has 2 resonators behind the cat and another glasspack on the part of the b-pipe parallel to the cross beam. There is a pic on his page. krbga, I hope you don't mind me posting your pic..... the glasspack is the red thing you see.
