i have a 95 max with 112k and i keep reding posts that if you check your ecu and check the codes it can make your max faster if i notice a problem in acceleration

i have no clue what ECU is , just think its something with the cars computer,

how do i adjust my ECU, where is my ECU located , can i do this myself , do i need special tools?
