Just bought a 95 GLE, questions.
Just bought a 95 GLE, questions.
I got lucky this weekend, took advantage of an opportunity to buy a 1995 GLE at wholesale - $6,250. Car has 77K on the odo, CarFax came back clean - one owner, no accidents or emissions failures, good to go. No, I probably can't get another one for the same price...
Some questions:
First, I'd love to buy a CD Changer for the stock Bose system. If anyone has one that they no longer use, let me know.
Second, there's a button missing on the Bose system - lowest button on the left-hand side. Aside from the dealer, can anyone recommend a source for this type of minor part? Perhaps the same guy who has a CD Changer might also have a failed/retired head unit?
Third, the color. What colors did 95 GLE's come in? This car is a very dark purple color. Looks practically black at night, but there's a definite purple tint to the car at certain angles. Where can I find a list of available colors for 1995 models?
Last, the leather on the driver's seat is worn off on the outside seam. Aside from having that seat re-upholstered, has anyone got any suggestions for repairing/hiding the damaged seat?
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

There is a company called Soundgate which now makes a CD changer interface to use the stock Bose system w/ an Alpine M-bus type changer. I would strongly recommend purchasing the products (both adapter & changer) from org member "Pearl96Max". He owns an audio shop in New Jersey, and is an authorized dealer for Alpine products. He offers a nice deal for ".org" members. You can find his e-mail addy in his "profile. I believe the model# for the adapter is SLS-NA1, and while u can use any Alpine M-bus type changer. The newest is the Alpine CHM-S630
