Should Oxygen sensors be replaced in pairs??
Should Oxygen sensors be replaced in pairs??
I had to replace one of my front oxygen sensors a couple of months ago, and I've just noticed that my car is getting sluggish in the lower RPMs. Could replacing just one oxygen sensor cause this? I know the ECU uses the signals from the sensors to control the fuel injection/fuel mixture. I have no codes in my ECU. Any thoughts?

Well, I noticed on my dyno that I'm short about 20 HP and my car does feel more sluggish. So I decided to change my 56K mile old plugs, fuel filter, and PCV. Still not as good as before, so I had my local indy Nissan mechanic run the CONSULT scan tool. He said after driving the car for 2 miles, the O2 sensor light came on and off 3 times. It seems like it might be shorting out or something. It's not out enough for the CEL to come on, but I have noticed that I'm a few miles per gallon. He suggested changing all 3 for my 97. He told me to call around a try to find a good deal at some dealerships (buying 3 can oddly cost as less as buying 2). Finally he told me that the O2 sensors on the 95+ Maxima and 92+ 300ZX's seem to have problems after 5-8 years of use.

I am calculating my full tank right now and I think I'm lasting 270 on a full tank...
I heard of people with new o2 sensors lasting 400+...
and my CEL didn't even come on..
I think I'm just going to change my whole thing...
where is a cheap place to get O2 sensors?

Does my car still have some kind of warranty on it that I (second owner) can take advantage of?

About the Alternator recall, I am not the original owner of the car, it has 59,280 miles on it, can I still take my car to the dealership and have the alternator replaced free of charge?

Mine is used also but they didn't ask me any questions about that.
We made an appointment, it was done in about 3-4 hours.
So many of my problems at once. I too have a sluggish max in the lower rpms. There is a huge noticeable difference in the way the car acts sometimes. I changed my o2 and knock sensors and it still does not feel no where near as powerful as before. What can we do?
