minor accident

Someone backed into me yesterday as I was pulling in Sonic. I pulled about 1/4 the way in and all sudden the 2002 GMC Envoy throws it in reverse and starts coming back. So I lay down on the horn, he just keeps coming. I threw it in reverse and tried to back out and before I could hit the gas his trailer hitch busted the fiberglass Sarona bumper. Spiderwebbed the paint all the way down the bumper and realigned it. I was pretty ****ed because the officer was saying it was his fault but hit didn't write it down on the police report. He said it was for insurance to decide Even though it was clearly his fault. Anyone got any good ideas on what I should do?

Well if the officer said that it was his fault you shouldn't have a problem. But they could say you were "following too closely." Insurance should cover it, and if I had to guess it would be around the $500 range considering your fiberglass bumper is probably cracked.
