Finished interior lighting, check it out.

Last year, I did the reverse indiglo gauges & intelliglow needles, window switches and security led. Now I finally finished the rest of my interior lighting. I did the hazard & rear defrost buttons, climate control, ignition key ring, shifter light, and matched it up with a Kenwood MPV-619 MP3/CD radio. Let me know what you think.

What about when the climate control is turned on? Did you manage to get that to change color? That is the only thing holding me back from doing the same thing, that green has got to go!

Let's say the gauges were about 2 hours, window switches 2 hours, climate control an hour, defrost & hazard an hour, ignition half hour, shifter light 5 minutes, radio install an hour. I say the hardest one would be the climate control, for some reason I had trouble getting the leds to stay secured to the board.

Nope, I left the climate control and clock displays alone. The cool thing about my radio, is that I can change the display to 67 different colors and whenever I decide to turn on the climate control, I can match it up with the radio display by turning it to that aqua color. Then it wouldn't be just a red/blue setup, but a red/blue/aqua setup. I still wish I could change them out to match in the first place.

What LEDs did you use for the climate control. THey look nice and bright. Do you know the specs? Can you tell me where to get em - I've tried a few but they are never bright enough. Looks great though. Your car always does.

Thanks Steve, I used the same ones in my window switches, the $4, 3.7 volt, 2300MCD, Radio Shack ones with a 330ohm resistor. Not that it would matter to you since your 5-spd, but I did go and buy one of those 4-LED 194 bulbs for the shifter, lets see how long it lasts before it starts to flicker and burn out.

looks HOT, nice to see someone else do the interior using blue LED's. It takes some imagination to make the LED's fit, but when you are done it looks great. Check out my homepage for some pics.

BenB looks sweet as usual!! I was just about to order mine and i did a search and found this post. nice!

one question. did you use 5mm LEDs or 3mm? I have 5mm LEDs in my window switches and was thinking of getting the same ones for the dash so they will all match up. i'm not sure if the 5mm will fit in the dash though.

I used the 5mm ones all around. I don't know if it'll work in the manual ac control, but they do work in the auto climate control.

You know I was thinking the other day, I think my pathfinder(98) had a similar clock as the maxima's but it had white numbers instead of green. That would be a nice change

thanks. judging by the pictures it looks like we have the same ac control. then again you have a 98 GLE or GXE and I have a 96 SE.

so you basically used one LED for each button?

Yea, 97 GLE and 1 led for each button, it sucks when sometimes Radio Shack blue leds don't have the same color of blue to match them up. I remember doing my driverside window switch and I bought a few aqua blue and few deep blue ones.

There is 4 locations for bulbs/leds behind the A/C control and one led each to illuminate the hazard, defroster, dimmer, and cruise control buttons. 5mm will work in the A/C but you have to file them down a little bit. The main thing, if you're doing the A/C, is that you get LEDs with the highest mcd rating you can find. That relates to the brightness of the led. Chekc out this link if you haven't all ready. http://www.z3d.com/maxima/blueclimate.html

My bulbs are exactly the same, 3.7v 5mm blue leds, except for the auto shifter which is a 194 led bulb. I couldn't do the clock display because its almost impossible, kind of like trying to change a calculator display.

You may as well just go ahead and get the SC - you know it's only a matter of time.

Yea, right now I'm debating on either getting a loan for one or the other, because of parts and labor to do the conversion, I think I might be leaning more for the SC, but yea, its only a matter of time.

Wait out for a TC, you'll be so much happier with it. Why do you think VW's, the 300z, and other cars come STOCK with turbos, because they yield better results. Get the SC now, and get another blower next year. And the year after, and so on...

Well, the turbo kit that's out there right now is a little too expensive for me, $4500. Either way, I just want to have some kind of boost ither than NAWWS.

If money is a factor...
Then don't get the intercooler, run it at a lower psi, and you'll get just as good results. Then add the intercooler later, and enjoy phenominal power from your family sedan
