OSRAM HID's installed, things are BLINDING!!

wow the OSRAM 4600k HID kit is insanely nice...Thanx to NYCGXE who got them for me. Was fairly inexpensive too, 250 for the kit. They look like 6000 or 8000 kits. They are good quality too. they really make my car stand out now, and also make people in front of me get out of the way, drove up to binghamton NY this weekend and it was amazing how much of the road i can see. these things make me

Aim them down some and they won't be "blinding" anymore I'm putting my Phillips kit on this weekend.

i have the hanabi 6000k kit, and it to is blinding even after aiming them down, i`m constantly getting high beamed, anyway i`m thinking about maybe putting in some eyelids to reduce glare and painting the inside of the headlight like the anniversary edition headlights, i`m hoping this will cut down on the brightness a bit without losing too much light. anyone else have this problem?

I also have the Hanabi HIDs. The only other HIDs I've driven with were in the Honda S2000. In that car the beam pattern seemed a little better defined, with a VERY noticable line where the HIDs stop. Meaning if you point them at a telephone pole, the first 5ft of the pole are bright as all hell while the rest is pretty much pitch black. Mine seem to be more gradual. I also know the headlight housing is straight-clear, as opposed to the small lines running through the plastic on the 97-99s.

Do you guys have the cut-off shields on the HID bulbs? Or maybe it's the result of using HIDs in housings not designed for hids.

I don't believe I have "cutoff shields"... what would these look like?

From what I understand some hid bulbs have a really small shield on one side of the bulb. I think some housings also have a shield to cut off the light. I might regret this but look up Yo-its-Ok screen name and see if his hid posts are still here.

Or just plug in hid in google and go to town.

Jefferson, check about 4-5 pics down. It shows a hid bulb with the shielding.

cool, thanks.

Is the sheilding the metal piece that runs the length of the bulb, or is it the shaded part of the bulb? I've got the metal piece, but I'll have to look for the shaded area...

My uneducated guess is it's the coated piece on the bulb.

The D2R bulbs are made for reflector headlights like ours. I believe all the 9004 kits are D2R bulbs, but I could be wrong. D2S bulbs are made for projector housings like the last gen Integras and A4s.

It's actually the piece inside the bulb. The D2Rs and D2S both have the piece that runs the length of the bulb, but only the D2Rs have the shielding inside the bulb.

so it's that dark coating on the bulb, not the long metal thing?

if this is the case i might have to switch my h.i.d setup to the phillips set up if it has this cutoff to prevent blinding on coming traffic. i`m tired of being high beamed already even after i aim them down

lights going out of control thats a good one. i have sold over 100 hanabi hids kits here on the org. that means over 100 maxs have hids out of control (lol lol lol). you guys just kill me.

the only bulb that has a metal shield is the H4 bulb.

D2R & D2S are the same bulbs put 1 has a small black strip on it and it's only used with hid housing. thats why the hanabi kits does not have the strip on the bulb.

i bought the hanabi 600k kit from freddie. i love it except for getting high beamed by other drivers. our housing was just not built for h.i.d`s thats why i wanna paint the inside housing like the a.e. maxima too cut down on the unwanted light.
